Swedish Embassy Representatives Visit SWAPNO-II Vocational Training in Rangpur
As part of SWAPNO-II’s commitment to empowering ultra-poor rural women, the project is currently providing two-month residential vocational training to 2,200 young women across 12 districts. The training, accredited by NTVQF Level 2 (developed by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) under the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), is designed to prepare participants for formal employment in the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. Training activities are currently underway for the first cohort of participants.
Recently, Mr. Saad Mahmud and Mr. Ikramul H. Sohel from the Embassy of Sweden, accompanied by SWAPNO-II National Project Manager Mr. Ashish Kumar Bakshi visited the training center in Rangpur. During their visit, they observed hands-on sessions in industrial sewing machine operations and engaged with the trainees, learning about their progress and aspirations.
The visit reaffirmed the importance of targeted skills development in opening pathways to dignified employment and highlighted SWAPNO-II’s impact in transforming the lives of rural women through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
